The Eye
What do you see in this piece? Personally, I see many windows of possibilities with the medium of Lego.
So many colors. So many different shapes and sizes. And most importantly, all the ways you can combine the two to create art.
This piece encapsulates my mission with being a Lego artist. I want to build pieces that no one has ever seen before; that make the viewer scratch their head and wonder, “How many pieces did that even take?!”
I began this piece with the colorful center, which you can see separated from the rest of the build down below.
This build began as an exercise to work on a Lego technique known as greebling, a style of building that is random and sporadic.
As I expanded out to form the shape of the eye, I used rubber tubes and so many dinosaur tails to form the outline and eyelashes.
There are so many kinds of parts in this build from a surfboard, chef’s hat, laser guns and bones. And if you look carefully enough, you might be able to find my initials: TDS.
Now this piece is the face, or more like the eye, of my art account, being featured on Tips and Bricks for Moc of the Week.
