Tennis Mosaic

He is ready to rally the ball back and forth in this commission for Laura Goldstein!

Her husband loves playing tennis and she proposed the idea of making a mosaic capturing him about to serve the ball as a gift to him. I was eager to try my hand at my first action shot.

The original photo is dynamic, as if he is a split second away from smacking the ball to the other side of the court.

The focus of this one is not so much the detail of the facial features, but more so his posture. The preparation before starting a match.

This mosaic was a blast and was a breath of fresh air!

It was fun to play around with contrasting colors, like making the racket blue and the court orange.

Also, adding a little pink shading to his tennis clothes was a fun touch.

Finally, I discovered a nice trick for making a canvas slightly bigger without using entire baseplates to make it oversized.

As you can see, the frame is slightly more rectangular because of a couple adding inches of bricks, making it taller.

Huge thank you to Laura and her husband for this wonderful opportunity!
